Calendaring interoperability woes

It amazes me to no end that such a simple and fundamental problem as calendaring could not be solved after decades of advances in our field. We put a man on the Moon, for god's sake! Why can't we make Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple iCal work together well?

And they want to do it again by 2018... Not sure I understand what you mean. Software Development is not that juvenile. Although I have to agree, we have a long way to go before we reach our Moon.

GCal has a pretty simple API already. Once iCal adds CalDAV support in Leopard, we'll just need a little app that can translate b/w CalDAV and GCal's API. Outlook sucks and will probably never support an open standard properly.
